What Will You Be Involved With?
Full-Stack Development & Support (50%)
- Full-Stack Troubleshooting: Support, debug, and enhance the entire application stack, from our React.js frontend to our Python backend services (Flask, Litestar, Celery) running on AWS ECS.
- Backend Service Support: Provide operational support for backend services and Kafka producers/consumers written in Python.
- Maintain Core Utilities: Take responsibility for our centralized management utility and our master API service, ensuring both the frontend and backend components are stable and performant.
- Collaborate on Solutions: Work closely with other engineers to diagnose issues and deliver solutions that span across infrastructure, backend, and frontend codebases.
- Design and Automate Infrastructure: Build, manage, and scale our AWS environment using Terraform, ensuring our infrastructure is repeatable, secure, and documented.
- Manage Kafka Ecosystem: Take ownership of our AWS MSK (Kafka) clusters. This includes provisioning, configuring topics and ACLs, managing cross-region replication with MSK Replicator, and ensuring high availability.
- Build CI/CD Pipelines: Develop and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, testing, and deployment of both infrastructure and applications.
- Design and implement secure VPC architectures, network segmentation, and service-to-service communication patterns.
- Implement Observability: Integrate and manage monitoring and alerting solutions using tools like CloudWatch, Prometheus, and OpenTelemetry.
What Will You Bring to the Table?
- Proven Experience: You have a solid background as a Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or a full-stack Software Engineer with a deep passion for infrastructure.
- Strong Python Development: You are highly proficient in Python for backend development. You are comfortable reading, debugging, and contributing to services built with frameworks like Flask or Litestar.
- React.js Proficiency: You have hands-on professional experience building and/or supporting applications with React.js. You can effectively troubleshoot issues between the frontend UI and backend APIs.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Expert: Strong, hands-on experience with Terraform is essential and terraform wrappers such as teragram and terramate
- AWS Expertise: You have deep knowledge of core AWS services, especially ECS, MSK, RDS, DynamoDB, and IAM.
- CI/CD Champion: You have proven experience building and managing automated deployment pipelines (e.g., using Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
- Containerization Knowledge: You are skilled with containers and have experience deploying containerized applications on an orchestrator like ECS.
Bonus Points if You Have Experience With:
- Deep knowledge of Apache Kafka, particularly its administration, security, and replication on AWS MSK.
- Configuration management tools like Chef or Ansible.
- Implementing modern observability stacks with Prometheus or OpenTelemetry.
