Senior Network Engineer – EMEA Coverage
Website Trading Technologies
Multi-asset platform for capital markets
Trading Technologies runs one of the lowest-latency trading networks in the industry: points of presence inside exchange colocation facilities across [North America, Europe, and Asia], carrying live market data and order flow for professional traders worldwide. On this network every microsecond and every dropped multicast packet is measurable, visible, and matters.
We’re adding a senior network engineer to own European operating hours. You’ll be the network authority for your region — designing, hardening, and troubleshooting the infrastructure that moves market data from the exchange to our customers, and handing off cleanly to colleagues in other regions at the edges of your day. This is a build-and-own role, not a NOC seat.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deploy low-latency network infrastructure across exchange colocation sites — routing, switching, multicast distribution, and the cross-connects and carrier circuits that link them.
- Own the health of the market-data and order-flow path end to end: multicast delivery, gap and recovery behaviour, latency, and capacity.
- Lead network projects in your region and contribute to global architecture — site builds, capacity expansion, hybrid-cloud extension, and technology refreshes.
- Diagnose and resolve production incidents calmly and methodically, often as the senior engineer on shift, then drive the fix and the write-up.
- Execute configuration changes safely in production, with the discipline a latency-sensitive trading network demands.
- Partner with systems, infrastructure, and operations teams globally on projects and daily support.
Hours & On-Call
You’ll own European working hours. TT runs a follow-the-sun support model, which for you means you cover your region and hand off to Asia and the Americas at the edges of your day — not that you’re carrying an all-night global pager. Sustainable, humane coverage is the entire reason this role exists.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Skills & Experience
- Deep, hands-on network engineering — you’ve designed and run production networks, not just operated them.
- Strong routing and switching fundamentals: BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and IP multicast (PIM, IGMP) — with real understanding of multicast, not just exposure to it.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, and Arista across routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Calm, methodical crisis management — you can own a critical incident under pressure and think clearly while doing it.
- Comfortable in Linux; you can troubleshoot from the host, not just the switch.
- Network automation in practice (Python, Ansible).
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Financial market-data connectivity or exchange networking: multicast feed handling, exchange colocation, latency-sensitive delivery.
- Precision time: PTPv2, hardware timestamping, grandmaster clocks.
- Kernel-bypass networking (Solarflare/Onload or similar) and precision packet capture / latency measurement.
- Colocation physical-layer fluency: cross-connects, dark fibre, DWDM, carrier and Megaport-style connectivity.
- Hybrid-cloud network experience extending on-premises infrastructure into public cloud.
